Beach Water Quality
In order to ensure that citizens can enjoy swimming safely at beaches in Hong Kong waters, the Environmental Protection Department has set a Water Quality Objective (WQO) for bathing beaches under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance. Samples have to be taken at least three times a month at intervals of between three and 14 days from all beaches during the bathing seasons from March to October.
Weather Information for Water Sports
Hong Kong Observatory has developed a portal to provide weather information for water sports activities. It includes wind forecasts for a number of hot spots for water sports activities, tidal information, visibility readings, lightning location information, sea surface temperature, etc. In particular, users engaging in water sports may also refer to the MyObservatory mobile app for the latest weather updates.
